Lot's of news about electronics for dogs of late. Wired has an article on a new doggy cell phone, and the BBC has an article about camera enabled crime fighting dogs.
Enhacing the capabilities of police dogs makes sense to me, but I'm having trouble seeing why I would call my dogs on a cell phone. The doggy cell phone can also call out, but it seems to need human involvement to make this happen. This is good - without supervision I'm sure my dogs would quickly use up my cell phone minutes.
The Wired article points out that the pet business is a big one, with US pet owners expected to spend $35.9 billion on their furry friends this year.
